The initial inspiration came from shadows cast on grass. Months later she came up with a technique which did not render the chosen object onto canvas in an unflat image. The selected subject is transformed into an image. This happens especially with living objects as well as those that are likely to perish, such as fruit or human beings. Alexa Meade's style of painting, that is a bit ephemeral in nature, is apparent. The only piece of her art to survive is the photo. Trompe l'oeil is achieved by combining the two techniques of photographing and painting. It creates two-dimensional flattened picture. Meade sometimes incorporates her painted figures in the 3D world that surrounds the figures. They can interact in this self-created universe. Through this, Meade has removed the borders between photography, painting and the performance.
