Tommy Lee-5-1024x1024Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass October 3, 1962 in Athens to David Lee Thomas Bass, an American U.S. Army sergeant and Vassiliki Papadimitriou as who was a contestant in the 1957 Miss Greece beauty pageant (Greek: Basilike Papademetriou). Athena is his younger sister, is also a drummer. Lee was only two years old when his father took his family to the United States. Lee received his first drums at the age of four as well as his first large drum kit as an adult. Lee dropped out from high school to pursue music as a career which began with Suite 19, a L.A.-based group that was a club. He listened to Van Halen, Led Zeppelin and Cheap Trick while a teen. John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge and Alex Van Halen were his primary drumming influences. Terry Bozzio also has a major influence.
